THE BULGARIAN DRAGON’S TAIL EXPEDITION THAT REACHED THE PATAGONIAN SUMMITAN INSPIRING STORY ABOUT SETTING HIGH GOALS AND THE TREMENDOUS POWER TO EXCEED THEM
June 29, 2016
Here the peaks stand like giant needles piercing the cloudy sky! There are no paths to the top of the mountain… as if nature wants to maintain the invincibility and the secrets of the heavenly needles and to preserve them by any means – all of them flanked by vertical granite walls, unseen ice tunnels and huge expanses of glaciers, bathing their foothills into the fjords of the South Pacific!
WELCOME TO PATAGONIA
The Argentina–Chile border is maybe a demarcation of the Edge of the World at all… Many people call this place “The End of the Earth”. Four Bulgarian climbers, however, considered the end of the world as a start-up of an Expedition, which purpose was to conquer the granite bastions in the Patagonian Andes and thus exceeding their lofty goals!
In December 2015, the team hit the road to the Fitzroy massif, the Torres del Paine peaks and Cerro Torre – the Patagonian giant, whose Dragontail Peak with imposing silhouette became not only the main goal, but also a symbol of the Bulgarian climbers – the “Dragon’s Tail Expedition ”.
The Expedition to the formidable peaks unapproachable by man continued for 68 days. Despite the high wind speeds reaching 200 kilometres per hour, protecting the massifs and attempting to push the team back from their final goal, the cold temperatures ranging from -15 °C to -25 °C degrees and trying to freeze their desire to conquer the Patagonian ‘Dragon’, no natural force could break the Spirit of the Bulgarian Expedition! Whatever it takes, when your strive for high aspirations and the Spirit guides you, you can walk thousands of kilometres, you can even turn the world around, but you will be grateful getting to that moment when you have succeeded to overcome both the natural forces and yourself, and all you have to say is:
I SET HIGH GOALS FOR MYSELF AND I EXCEED THEM!
On the 6th Day of January 2016, after non-stop rock climbing for 12 hours, for the first time Bulgarian climbers succeeded and stepped on the summit of Cerro Torre and thus conquered the most fearsome Patagonian ‘Dragon’!
The understanding of the Bulgarian climbers of this moment of happiness is defined as an “impeccably white emotion”, which contains the full spectrum of colours, and add that they will remember Patagonia not as the Edge of the World, but as a place that leaves:
ULTIMATE FIRST IMPRESSION FOREVER
Perfect white landscapes to the West, oil green steppes to the East, with orange giant granite rocks and, when sometimes the clouds reveal the sky – blue!
